Dr. Ming Wang recently served as a table host at the annual Statesmen’s Dinner, held at the Music City Center on May 13th.
The event honored the life and legacy of Senator Fred Thompson, whose contributions to America and the world are too numerous to list here in this context. Senator Lamar Alexander presented the Howard H. Baker award to Jeri Thompson, Thompson’s widow, who honored the over 1,000 attendees with kind words; wiping tears from her eyes as she noted how much the family misses him.
Thompson was always known as a common-sense problem-solver; so it was fitting that the keynote speaker was South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, a like-minded conservative. Governor Haley was introduced by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, who described Haley as “relentlessly enthusiastic.” Haley gave impressive remarks.
Additional awards were made to recognize Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey upon his retirement, and the evening was capped off by remarks from U.S. Representatives Phil Roe, John Duncan, Chuck Fleischmann, Scott DesJarlais, Diane Black, and Marsha Blackburn.
